5 May 11 - On Sunday, the water level of Lake Champlain was at 31.3 metres (103 ft 8 inches), the highest it has been in the 150 years records have been kept," says this article in the Montreal Gazette.

The Richelieu River, which last week breached its banks, was flowing at 1,443 cubic metres per second on Sunday - another record, said Pierre Corbin, a spokesperson for the Hydro-Météo.

Strong rains could delay the return to normal water levels by a week.

"In addition to Lake Champlain and the Richelieu south of Montreal, Hydro-Météo on Sunday maintained flood alerts for the Mastigouche, Batiscan and Matawin rivers in the Mauricie, the Rivière Rouge in the Laurentians and the L'Assomption River in Lanaudière."
