Vail sets record for January snow

______________________________

.
6 Feb 09 - VAIL, Colorado — Vail Mountain had record snow in January and more is coming this weekend.

Ninety-nine inches of snow fell on Vail Mountain last month — the most in January since the ski resort started keeping the mid-mountain statistic eight years ago. Last season, Vail got 97 inches of snow in January.

The mountain could get 4 to 8 inches of snow on Saturday night and Sunday, said Paul Frisbie, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.

There’s a good chance of snow next week, too, Frisbie said. Snow is in the forecast for Monday, Tuesday and then again on Thursday, he said.
