29 Nov 10 - With up to four inches of snow forecast for later this week, Derbyshire has already shivered through what one expert claims was its coldest November night in 134 years.

Amateur weatherman Philip Singleton, of Chaddesden, said that he measured the temperature at -12.2C on Saturday night.

"I checked my records and this is the coldest November night in Derby for 134 years, dating back to 1876, when records began.

"It was also the coldest night in Derby for 25 years, since January 17, 1985, when the temperature was -12.4 Celsius."

Thanks to Bill Sellers for this link

"I bet the heat was on at Kedleston in Derbyshire," says Bill."Robert Adam did it 1759 [just prior to the Dalton Minimum]....back then they had big reasons to plan for cold weather."
