Switzerland snowfall two to five times normal
from an avid skier
is a map from
www.slf.ch which shows the % of
snowfall across Switzerland as compared to the long-term mean.
As you can see, several areas are more than 200% of normal, with a few stations over 500%.
Still early, but I think the data last year was exactly the same.
So, whether it's due to global warming, PDO/AMO shifts or just highlighting high early snowfall levels at sunspot minimum, it seems that we're having some 'local difficulty' in explaining why ski resorts will all open up this weekend to bumper conditions.
