This solar minimum much lower
than 12 years ago

______________________________

21 Dec 08 – “Last week's sunspot group was only visible for three days, December 10-12. The average daily sunspot number for all of 2007 was 12.8; if we see no sunspots for the rest of 2008, the average for this year will be 4.7.

“By comparison, the yearly averages of daily sunspot numbers during the last solar minimum (1995-1997) were 28.7, 13.2 and 30.7. This solar minimum is much lower than the one about 12 years ago.”

Is it just a coincidence that we’ve broken so many cold temperature
records and so many snowfall records? I think not.

How can anyone look at these low sunspot numbers and still pretend
that activities on the sun don’t control our weather?

Especially when we know that the last Little Ice Age occurred during
the Maunder Minimum, a period of 80 years when there were no
               sunspots.

The correlation between sunspot minimums and ice ages is undeniable.

This sunspot update comes from the AARL website (The National Assn
for Amateur Radio). “These guys are good on the day-to-day, stuff,”
               says my friend Mike McEvoy.
