Snow Crushes Church
 ______________________________________

21 Feb 08 - A Seward, Alaska, church crumbled to the ground under the weight of snow this week. No one was inside at the time, according to eyewitnesses.

The Seward Chapel along Nash Road

Dot Bardarson, who lives near the church, photographed its ruins. She said it has been an unusually heavy snow year in Seward.

"It's unbelievable," Bardarson said. "I've never seen so much snow and the trouble is the rain follows the snow and then it snows and then rain follows that. So I don't know what's happening in Anchorage but in Seward it's just amazing."

She said the church was able to salvage the piano from under the rubble.
