September-like conditions in New England
_____________________________

8 Aug 08 - Heavy rain Thursday swamped the capital city of Vermont. The drainage system in Montpelier was hit with so much rain at once that the back-up flooded parts of the city downtown with about 2 feet of water.

(I'm on a trip back east, and actually drove past Montpelier on
the interstate Thursday afternoon. It was indeed raining HARD.)

Thursday, Memphis, Tenn., set a daily rain record with 2.93 inches, more than an inch above the previous record.

High temperatures Thursday across New England included:

  • Portland, Maine: 63/Ave.: 79

  • Sanford, Maine: 66/Ave.: 82

  • Boston, Mass.: 70/Ave.: 82

  • Concord, N.H.: 74/Ave.: 83
