Record snowfall at Mt. Bachelor -

and counting

8 May 11 - Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort, 22 miles outside of Bend, Oregon, "recently surpassed its all-time record for seasonal snowfall," says this article by Jen Sorensen.

The previous record of 606 inches has been eclipsed by the current total, which now stands at 633 inches -- and still counting.

"Compare that with the average snowfall: 387 inches," says Sorensen.

"Even in years without record snow, the mountain is known to have one of the longest operating seasons in North America. This year you can ski through May 29, with limited hours and some chair closings."
