28 Apr 11 - "Park rangers report all time record snowfall in Stillwater State Forest, 18 miles north of Whitefish," says this article by Will Wadley.

Foresters measured average snow depth in Striker Basin at 131.4 inches, says Wadley. That's 18 inches above the previous record of 103 inches set in March, 1997, and far exceeds the average snow depth for April of only 75 inches. In fact, that works out to 175 percent of normal.

Just 6 years ago, say rangers, the same record-setting location in Striker Basin had no April snow to measure.
