16 Mar 11 - Later in the day

Last years maximum snow base of 701 cm has been exceeded today with a measurement of 710cm.

Now the questions to be answered are how much more snow will accumulate and how long into the summer will it last? If we see that the snow survives the summer and into the fall at some point in the future then the ice age that's been talked about might just be on its way.

16 Mar 11 - "It won't be long now before last year's record is busted when it comes to mid mountain snow base at Mt. Washington ski resort," says reader Steven Rowlandson. "I'll keep you posted as new records are set."

Steven is talking about Mount Washington on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
