15 Mar 10 - Tourism chiefs in Cumbria, a county in the North West of England, are encouraging people to "tweet" online should they spot a blooming daffodil in the Lake District.

The daffodils, made famous by William Wordsworth, are more than a month late this year following the cold winter.

Eric Robson, Chairman of Cumbria Tourism, said: "It's virtually unheard of not to have seen a single daffodil in the Lake District by the middle of March.

Hi Robert,

I take a look at your web site daily. I have been studying climate for 30 years and am with you all the way. I live in Warwickshire in the UK. We are much further south than Cumbira and our 1st Daffodil was on the 15th March. I have no record of having to wait until March before.

Keep up the good work

James Hicken
