Strongest since March 11

7 Apr 11 - Japan was rattled by a strong earthquake Thursday night at about the same location and depth as the March 11 quake. It's the strongest of more than 1,000 aftershocks since the initial 9.0-magnitude quake, except for a 7.9 aftershock that same day.

The Japan meteorological agency issued a tsunami warning for a wave up to three feet (one meter) high, which was later lifted.

"Buildings as far away as Tokyo shook for about a minute," said this story on MSN Canada.

In Ichinoseki, "buildings shook violently, knocking items from shelves and toppling furniture, but there was no heavy damage to the buildings themselves."

"There certainly appears to be an increase in earthquake activity worldwide, says Kevin. "At least in magnitude."
