Is Climate Changing In Favor of Ski Resorts?

 __________________

6 Nov 09 – “I remember hearing incessantly a decade ago that by now anthropogenic global warming would be hurting the ski industry,” says reader Josh Cooley.

“The media and "expert" sources claimed that warmer temperatures would delay openings and bring earlier closures and rising snow levels would reduce snowpack and make skiing impossible at lower elevation resorts. None of their predictions have materialized.”

From Snowboard Club UK comes this report:

Continents With Resorts Open For Skiing: 3
Countries With Resorts Open For Skiing: 110
Ski Areas Open (Approximately): 40

  • Heavy snow in the Alps.
  • Heavy snow in Scandinavia.
  • Canadian resorts open, and others announce early opening.
  • Another 20cm of snow for Hemsedal, opening on Saturday.
  • Verbier may open on Saturday

“About FORTY resorts open worldwide in early November. Some resorts had their earliest openings ever. In the past few years numerous resorts have reported record snowfall. Where's the warming? If anything, climate seems to be changing in favor of ski resorts.

“Of course, alarmists would say this means nothing, but if it were reversed, with warm temperatures, no snow, and no resorts open, well, you know we'd never hear the end of it.”

Thanks Josh. I think you're seeing clearly.
