Glasgow, Montana shatters snowfall record

Old record broken almost two months ago

23 Mar 11 - Glasgow's eight inches of new snow on Wednesday pushed the town's record-breaking seasonal snowfall total to more than 105 inches.

That's far above the old record of 70.7 inches, set in 2003-04.

The old record was broken almost two months ago, by Feb. 1.

"Every place has been above normal, in some cases way above normal," said Don Simonsen, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Glasgow. "But not quite so much in counties south of the Missouri River."

That makes sense. During the last ice age, most areas south of the Missouri River remained unglaciated.

Another storm is on the way.
