13 Jul 2011 - "Continued heavy snow has prompted authorities to keep the Crown Range closed tonight," says this article New Zealand's Otago Times.

"The situation is quite unique in that we are experiencing back to back snowfalls," QLDC transport manager Denis Mander said.

"Snow on the saddle now ranged between one and one and a half metres (three to 4 feet)."

Winds were gusting up to 100kmh (60mph) at Coronet Peak this afternoon. Ski managers say they are monitoring the situation.
