Blast from the past?
Coldest winter in 15 years
Environment Canada says

1 Dec 07 – "Environment Canada predicts that until February, climates across most of the country will be the coldest in 15 years, with the exception of a small pocket in southern Ontario.

.
"Much of Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Alberta and parts of British Columbia and southern Ontario will also see above-normal precipitation."

Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips said the trend in recent years of uncharacteristically warm, short winters will be wiped out by a chilly reminder of what a real Canadian winter feels like. The temperature and precipitation abnormalities are likely the result of La Nina, Phillips said.

La Nina (the little girl) is the appearance of cooler-than-normal waters in the eastern and central Pacific Ocean.

In November, a fierce storm dumped nearly 80 cm of snow on Whistler, B.C. in two days, allowing the Whistler Blackcomb ski hill to open one week ahead of schedule.
