Coldest morning in Adelaide since 1983
_____________________________

28 July 08 - Three Qantas and Virgin Blue planes were grounded at Adelaide Airport for more than an hour this morning waiting for ice to melt off the wings.

The airlines do not keep de-icing equipment in Adelaide because of the extreme rarity of such events here.

Adelaide's temperature plummeted to 0.8C about 6.25am, the lowest since the winter of 1983.

The lowest recorded temperature in the state so far today has been -2.4C at Naracoorte
