The Richelieu River, which last week breached its banks, was flowing at 1,443 cubic metres per second on Sunday - another record, said Pierre Corbin, a spokesperson for the Hydro-Météo. Strong rains could delay the return to normal water levels by a week. "In addition to Lake Champlain and the Richelieu south of Montreal, Hydro-Météo on Sunday maintained flood alerts for the Mastigouche, Batiscan and Matawin rivers in the Mauricie, the Rivière Rouge in the Laurentians and the L'Assomption River in Lanaudière."
