28 Jun 11 - A week into summer, the National Weather Service has issued a winter
weather advisory for parts of the northern Sierra Nevada.
Travelers should be prepared for snow and blowing snow over the west slope of
the northern Sierra Nevada into early Wednesday. Up to 5 inches of snowfall is
forecast for Carson Pass, Ebbetts Pass and Sonora Pass.

SNOW LEVELS LOWERING TO AROUND 8500 TO 9500 FT BY LATER TONIGHT AND WEDS.
SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION WILL STAY ABOVE THE PASS LEVELS. A LIGHT DUSTING
OF SNOW MAY OCCUR OVER THE HIGHEST NORTHERN SIERRA NEVADA PASSES INCLUDING
CARSON PASS ON HIGHWAY 88... EBBETTS PASS ON HIGHWAY 4 AND SONORA PASS ON
HIGHWAY 108.
THIS WILL BE A DRAMATIC CHANGE IN THE WEATHER FOR INTERIOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
FROM THE RECENT SUNNY AND WARM CONDITIONS. ANYONE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
ARE ADVISED TO REMAIN IN TOUCH WITH THE LATEST WEATHER FORECASTS.
