UK Superstore Roof Collapses Under Snow

Forecasters warn Big Freeze will go on
for at least another week

4 Dec 10 - A Tesco superstore in Scunthorpe was full of shoppers when 30 square metres of the roof and front canopy collapsed last night under the weight of snow. Fortunately, the collapse happened at the farthest point from the entrance and no one was injured.

In another collapse, firefighters had to rescue 200 sheep and cattle trapped when a shed collapsed due to the weight of snow.

Meanwhile, the snow death toll has risen to seven, cash machines are running out of money as snows hamper delivery vans, and heavy snow warnings remain in place for much of the country.
