Goodbye Sunspots? - Hello Ice Age
15 Sep 10 - According to an article today in Science, the magnetic
field strength of sunspots appears to be waning. If the trend continues,
the sun may become spotless by 2016 and remain that way for decades.
A similar dearth of sunspots in the 17th century coincided with a
prolonged period of cooling on Earth (the Little Ice Age).
See Goodbye Sunspots? - Hello Ice Age

Headed for a Grand Solar Minimum - And a Grand Cooling!
21 Jun 10 - Prof. Dr. Cees de Jager,  prominent astronomer, solar expert and former head of the Utrecht University Observatory, The Netherlands, claims
that we are headed for a long Grand Minimum "not shorter than a century."

Now they're calling lack of sunspots "the calm before the storm"
Don't they get it? This is the storm

23 Jun 10 - "Absence of sunspots make scientists wonder if they're
seeing a calm before a storm of energy," blared the headline yesterday
in the Washington Post. The headline should have read "Absence of
sunspots could lead to Little Ice Age."

A Bad Future for Everyone
By Alan Caruba
27 Jun 10 - "There is something
called the Grand Solar Minimum, a
diminution of radiation from the Sun
that is likely to precede a new ice
age and is predicted to last a century.

generally 11,500 years we are at the
very end of the current interglacial
period.

NASA - Rewrite and confuse the public
18 Jun 10 - NASA is beefing up sunspot numbers in a way
where we cannot compare to previous cycles, says Accuweather
meteorologist Joe Bastardi. The old method would never say
there was a sunspot, says Bastardi. "They are picking out what
they term a sunspot now." I think this masks the possibility
that we are headed into the next Little Ice Age.

What's Wrong with the sun?
Are we headed for a new little ice age?
14 Jun 10 - There is evidence that the sun is inexorably losing
its ability to produce sunspots. By 2015, they could be gone
altogether, "plunging us into a new Maunder minimum - and
perhaps a new Little Ice Age."

Longer Term Solar Minimum
could lead to Little Ice Age

15 Aug 09 - "Magnetic intensity in sunspots is decreasing...if this continues in the same way as it has for the last 15 years, the Sun will be devoid of sunspots in five years...overall the Sun’s energetic output will decline significantly inducing another little ice age on the Earth.”

"No reason to discount the idea that we’re heading into another
Little Ice Age, or possibly a major ice age," says meteorologist

31 Aug 09 – During the Maunder Minimum there were no telescopes
and satellites with the observational power we have today, so today's
long periods without sunspots are even more impressive. We can see
small sunspots that would have been missed 100 to 200 years ago.
