17 Jul 08 - Here’s another email from a reader: Dear Mr Felix, Is Mr Hathaway of NASA the same guy that predicted a superstrong sunspot maximum for 2012 , stronger than all recent periods and who is now gaily misusing statistics to prove his previous statements? Look at the facts. The present minimum is already past 500 days whilst the standard length of all minimums during the recent hot years lasted only maximally 350 days. Here we are surpassing this period by over 50% and all of a sudden it’s not significant? Period 23 started in the beginning of 1996, so period 24 should have started in the beginning of 2007 so we are now more than 500 days overdue. Or am I too simple-minded and does there exist a higher truth than the facts? Sometimes I am starting to believe that in this world the availability of funds decides what is declared the truth and what is considered to be heresy Best regards,
