9 Jan 10 - Magnetic activity of the sun is central to Svensmark’s theory of galactic cosmic ray modulation.

As the theory goes, lower magnetic activity of the sun lets more galactic cosmic rays into our solar system, which produce microscopic cloud seed trails in our atmosphere, leading to more cloud cover and thence a cooler planet
