Snowstorms Bury Western Mountain ranges

18 Feb 11 - A series of storms from the Pacific will continue dumping snow on many Western mountain ranges into the weekend, and to surprisingly low elevations, says accuweather.com. Through tonight, up to 3 feet of additional snow will fall in parts of the Sierra Nevada, likely reaching down to the foothills just east of Sacramento and as far south as the Grapevine in Southern California. Snow levels dropped to around 500 feet in the Cascades on Thursday and will likely remain close to these levels through the weekend, perhaps into parts of Seattle and Portland. Snow will hit the mountains of Arizona and northern New Mexico over the weekend, along with the Montana and Wyoming Rockies. More than a half foot of snow is forecast for Flagstaff. Oregon's Cascades have already received 15 to 30 inches of snow.
