1 Feb 11 - A massive winter storm some are dubbing "Snowpocalypse" is unleashing brutal weather — sleet, ice, wind and loads of snow — as it moves across the U.S. Midwest to the Northeast and on to Canada. As of this morning, blizzards raged in eight states, with Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma the hardest hit, while 30 other states stood in line with warnings, watches and advisories. The storm is expected to affect 100 million people in the U.S. from New Mexico to Maine. "We've already seen 30 centimetres (about 12 inches) of snow in Oklahoma City, making it the snowiest February day on record there, and it's still falling." said CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe. "Tomorrow the heavy snow will move to New York and the New England states," said Wagstaffe. When the snow finally ends, bitter cold will set in with temperatures in parts of the Midwest dipping well below –17 C (about 1 degree F).
