As of Wednesday, Alta had received 18 inches of new snow this week, with half the week to go. Alta now reports an existing settled snow depth of 200 inches — almost 17 feet. Snowbird and Alta are not alone. According to Brian McInerney, hydrologist, National Weather Service, snowpacks in northern and eastern Utah are at least 180 percent of normal.
