. Hi Robert, Well today the country ground to a halt or should that be slithered to an impromptu and rather undignified halt? London grinds to a halt due to unprecedented snowfall with all bus services being withdrawn and the BBC in their infinite wisdom choose the Mayor of London Boris Johnstone to interview..... When asked...... "In the light of all this are you going to be buying some snowploughs then for the future?" He replied, "Well the difficulty is you can make an investment of really quite a large some of money in snowploughs for London and not use them for a couple of decades when scientists are after all telling us that the meteorological outlook is in general in the opposite direction....." For heavens sake the Government spends billions on upgrading their nuclear arsenal every two or three decades and they don’t use them..... (Thankfully I hasten to add.) What’s the difference? There’s more chance of it snowing than total nuclear annihilation. (I hope so I hasten to add.) I mean up here we have council trucks that cover road maintenance all year round that have an attachment at the front were a snowplough can be fitted if and when required. Honestly, the guy is as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. John Brown, Ardrossan, Scotland |
