Monster storm stretching from California

9 Dec 09 - By the time it moves off the Maine coast
Thursday night, this "monster of a storm" may have affected as much as
two-thirds of the country, said Jim Lee, a meteorologist with the
National Weather Service in Des Moines.
The storm dropped more than a foot of snow on Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa, while Maine, New Hampshire and New York were preparing for up to a foot of snow or more.
More than 3 feet of snow is forecast for Syracuse and other areas near the Great Lakes.
The storm blanketed the mountain West, shut down I-5 north of Los Angeles, and dumped more than 20 inches of snow on Flagstaff, Arizona — more than 4 times the previous record of 5 inches set in 1956.
