24 Jan 10 - "The scientist behind the bogus claim in a Nobel Prize-winning UN report that Himalayan glaciers will have melted by 2035 last night admitted it was included purely to put political pressure on world leaders," says this article in the Daily Mail. Dr Lal, coordinating lead author of the IPCC report in question, admitted to the Daily Mail that he was well aware that the statement did not rest on peer-reviewed scientific research. "In fact, the 2035 melting date seems to have been plucked from thin air," the article continues.

The article goes on to give instances of times that, when reviewers asked for verifications, Dr Lal and his colleagues simply ignored them.
