25 Apr 10 - The new climate-change legislation that Senators had planned to foist on an unsuspecting American public on Monday has been put on hold.

Massachusetts Democrat Sen. John Kerry said Saturday that he is postponing the unveiling of the new legislation due to political squabbling over immigration.

Kerry is one of a triumvirate of Senators who have been quietly drafting a comprehensive energy and climate change bill for the past six months. The other members of the triumvirate are Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman.

Comprehensive? The word oppressive comes more easily to mind.

The legislation aims to cut emissions of pollution-causing greenhouse gases 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 by imposing huge new taxes and onerous controls on American businesses and workers.

White House energy adviser Carol Browner praised the three senators, reiterating that the Obama administration wants the energy and climate bill done this year.

     A 17 percent reduction in energy in just ten years! And this from levels of
     five years ago!

     Huge tax increases and onerous controls at a time when unemployment
     stands at 9.7 percent. Huge tax increases and onerous controls at a time
     when our economy stands in shambles. All this at a time when people are
     losing their homes in numbers not seen since the Great Depression.

     Huge tax increases and onerous controls at a time when temperatures
     are falling. All this at a time when the sunspot count is the lowest in 100
     years. All this at a time when Arctic sea ice has expanded to at levels not
     seen since 1979. All this when the IPCC's lies about melting Himalayan
     glaciers have been exposed. All this after Climategate has exposed the
     lies and hypocrisy of the global warming movement. All this in a mistaken
     attempt to control carbon dioxide, a plant food that is actually beneficial
     to mankind.

     Where are our leaders brains?
