3 Jun 10 - This article by Matt Weiser primarily concerns river
safety due to cold, fast-moving water from snowpack melt. The peak
of the melt is coming about three weeks later than normal "due to
unusually cool weather this spring."
However, there are a couple tidbits that I think should have been
headlined.
"The snowpack is also unusually large due to numerous late-winter
storms: 215 percent of normal statewide as of June 1, according to
state Department of Water Resources data," says Weiser.
And this one:
"Water officials this week are keeping a close eye on Shasta
Lake. The surrounding watershed holds a snowpack nearly four times
larger than normal."
