Another Icelandic Volcano Gets Frisky

In this picture on fromtheold.com, you can see the activity rising in the last couple of days What many don't know is that the most powerful volcano eruption on earth happened at Bįršarbunga some time ago (probably around 8,500 years ago). During that eruption its lava covered an area of 950 sq km (367 sq miles). In comparison, Manhattan covers just under 23 sq miles. "As a reminder," says this article on zerohedge.com, "Bįršarbunga “The largest lava flow in Iceland (courtesy of Wikipedia), and the entire earth from a single eruption originated from Bįršarbunga about 8500 years ago (causing mass extinctions)."
Historically, there have been large eruptions every 250-600 years.
