than 900 earthquakes in seven days What does that tell us?
25 May 10 - Many of the earthquakes were so low on the scale they wouldn't be felt by anyone - but hundreds? What does that tell us about what might be about to happen? According to Oregon State University marine geologist Chris Goldfinger and his colleagues, the Northwest has a one in three chance of a "mega earthquake" in the next 50 years," while Oregon to northern California has a 37 percent chance. And it's not a matter of if a major quake will happen, but merely when.
Surely the same can be said about the whole West Coast, which means
it could happen any day now, says reader Richard Syratt. And it
could happen anywhere from Baja California to Alaska.
